I hate scarry things but I live with a ghost and she enjoys making me scream.

I am one of the biggest babies when it comes to horror movies, ghosts and anything that goes bump in the night. When my children were younger I would take them to the scarey movies and I would be the one hiding her face and screaming out loud. So when my daughter said she saw a ghost in her room my first thought was that she was just pulling my chain. Well she wasn't. I live in a haunted house. We bought an old farm house. It was too small for my large family so we added two more bedrooms. Halfway through the build my husband and son would say they heard voices. They could not make out the words, just mumbling but there was no one else in the house. It became a daily thing as the building moved along. I woke up at 2:16 am to my daughter yelling for me a few days after she moved into her room. I ran in to see her pointing to her desk, I saw no one but she said there was a woman staring at her. Like the good mother that I am I ran out of the room. I made it to the kitchen ...

Running so fast to just fall behind.

Have you ever felt like you were spinning your wheels? Running in place and getting no where. Well I am, and it’s my own fault. I finished my first book, Rescued from the Dark, and started my second, Last Chance to Run. Things were going along so smooth until someone asked me what I was doing to promote myself. Initial panic set in and confusion took over. How do you market yourself? I had so many questions, but no answers. I asked other authors and picked the brains of my critique partners. They suggested that I join author groups, writers groups and sites that would promote me and my work. It all sounded so easy, so I joined each group I found that looked interesting. Now I’m critiquing, reviewing, blogging and tweeting. I’m doing everything except writing. How did this happen?  With NaNo coming up I decided to Un-do the mess I got myself into. I am going to slow down on all the sites I visit and concentrate more on my writing. I found myself...

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Before I started writing, I formed a readers group. We all work together so it was easy to discuss the books. The time came for our next book and I volunteered to pick one since I was always at the book store. We all like Suspense so the genre was not hard, but a book was. We are ten women that have different likes in our stories. Some like a lot of action in the field while others want all the action in the bedroom, but they all want suspense. So finding a good mix is sometimes a challenge. During one of our sessions I brought up one I heard of and it was voted down. I asked why and the consensus was the cover did not catch their attention.   I do spend a lot of time in book stores and realized I would pass up a book because the cover did not catch my eye, shame on me. I really liked the blurb on this book so I decided to try something.   I went to the author site and copied the excerpt she had online and passed it to the group. After reading it t...

With Rescued from the Dark, coming out soon I thought I'd post an interview with the FBI intern Mercedes Kingsley. She is waiting on a response from her application to the FBI Academy. She struggles with her need to be an agent while hiding a secret that will destroy everything she has worked so hard to build. Lynda:        “Welcome Ms. Kingsley. I have asked you here to go over a few items in your application for the Academy.   I’ve reviewed your paperwork and would like you to tell me about the incidents that lead to your father’s retirement 10 years ago.” Mercy;    Mercy swallowed hard, folding her hands in her lap to stop the shaking.      "It was a botched kidnapping which caused a devastating ending to my father’s career. “   They just don’t need to know what else it caused that night. Lynda;      "Could I have details please, I need it for the applicat...
