Bubble baths have been a source of relaxation for centuries and the way I start everyday. I know what your thinking, a nice hot bath is something you want to sink into at  the end of a stressful day. What I found out, a long time ago was it was also the best way to start your day. My two favorite things bring a smile to my face and start my day off right, a hot bubble bath and a hot cup of coffee. Now that is a perfect match for me.

Romans and Greeks could teach us a few things about a relaxing bath. They knew it was more than just cleanliness, it was about relaxing, it was about pampering. All in all it was just about enjoying the whole ritual of stepping into the warm scented water and letting your cares melt.

 A Bubble bath is also a wonderful way to get to know someone a little more. Hot steamy water, glowing candles and a chilled bottle. Do I need to say more. Please close the door as you leave. :}

Perfect ending to any day. A hot bath and a good book.

 Undercover FBI agent Jason Michaels is on the most important mission of his career. Infiltrate the Terrorist cell and rescue the FBI intern Mercedes Kingsley. The woman who secretly shared his bed and stole his heart. Once Mercedes wakes from her coma Jason realizes she has no memory of what happened to her, who he was, or that he is the father of her unborn child.
In a race against time, with obstacles at every turn, Jason struggles to protect Mercedes, and their baby, while trying to locate the evidence he needs to save both thier lives. The terrorists will stop at nothing to take back the secrets Mercy has locked in her memory. As time ticks away, and danger gets closer, Jason and Mercedes struggle to fight their attraction and put their differences aside as they launch a manhunt to save their country and each other.

Small excerpt:

 An explosion ricocheted behind Jason Michael’s eyes as the pressure mounted in his head. The rush of panic consumed him as he struggled to move. He tried to swallow but his throat burned from the flames that engulfed his lungs.   He needed to breathe but he couldn’t, shit.  He strained to hear the muffled voices, but the pounding in his ears erased all hope. His head started to spin and he succumbed to the realization, this was it, the end, he won.  The flames were dampening and his heartbeat slowed as the drums subsided.
     “Give it to him now you son of a bitch. What were you thinking? We still need him,” said Shaun.
     A split second release had Jason sucking in a breath of much needed air causing stabbing pains to shoot through his chest. Every muscle fiber burned as the cold blast of air shot through his lungs releasing the oxygen his body craved.  He arched his back and raised his chest trying to pull in more air when the impact threw him back down. His head snapped to the side and the crack from his neck echoed in his ears. The pain jolted through his jaw as it raced across his cheekbone. Before he could gather his senses the hand smacked across his face again and the pain set his face on fire. What the hell? With the third slap his eyes snapped open. He wrenched upright with a lurch, hitting his head on the roof of the SUV. Jason’s eyes darted back and forth looking for something familiar until he locked onto the ice-cold stare of the devil himself, Shaun Flanagan. Damn!  That was close. He could not blow his cover, even if it meant he would die as David Logan, and not Jason Michaels.

One of those, How did I do that moments.

Ok, we all have those moments when the light goes on and you say to yourself, wow I finally get it.  My workshop instructors and critique partners have all said the same thing to me, when you think you’re done put it down, leave it alone and then go back for a final edit.

Well here goes the funny moment.  (It doesn’t pay to cry)   Somewhere during my editing process I deleted a major chapter. Not sure how I did that but I sent it back to a publisher, who requested changes and a re-submit, without the main action in the middle and got a rejection letter. They said the middle was lacking in action and the characters never connected.

Well I was frustrated but had a workshop coming up and I needed to decide what I was going to do. Work on it some more, or move on.  If you know me you know I hate to quit without finishing.  So I took my break, went back and decided to do a read through.

Can you say Duh?  The main rescue scene and hot steamy sex scene was gone.  The publisher must have thought my character got pregnant by Immaculate Conception.

Like I said you have to laugh, and go on.

This is my, Oh my God how did I miss that, moment.  This is also where I tell you go ahead and say it.   I told you so, because you did.

So thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far.  I can honestly say I do get it. When you put it away you take the emotional hold away from your story and it allows you to be objective.

So I am going back to finish my edits, step away, then read it through one last time before I submit it again.   They say the third time’s the charm. That’s what I’m betting on!

What not to do on Antihistamines.

I had to laugh at myself today as I read through my first week of notes from a workshop I'm taking. What does, describe your characters Noah’s arc flaw mean? I'm not sure either. I started Editpalooza last Monday and fell behind due to a bad cold. I tried to keep up with my assignments and I took notes, or at least I thought I did. That’s what I get for trying to concentrate on a read through and character arcs while on drugs. Noah is not in my book so I'm not sure why I was concerned about his arc, but he's all over my notes. Maybe it’s my subconscious trying to tell me he should be in my next book. I'm not sure what an old man dressed in a white robe is going to do in a special ops series. You never know, his robe could be hiding a very large gun that will save the damsel in distress. Or something like that. :}

My new year started off with a bang and my calendar is filling up fast.

If my day job and my writing didn't keep me busy enough I have signed up for a few workshops and blog tours. I'm determined to find a home for my novel and along the way I'm going to chart the rest of my journey and meet some new friends.

I'm going to do a Suspense Romance blog on February 9th at Keith Publications. Then I'm going to be part of the Valentine Blog hop with the Blog Hop Spot from February 11th through the 14th.

That's on top of Editpalooza workshop I'm in until February 3rd and 'Stop Committing Four Deadly Writing Sins and Free Your Work from Mediocrity' workshop that starts February 6th and runs through March. In between all of this I'm flying to Pittsburg, Pa to spend a weekend with my sisters and go see a movie. I can't wait to see Janet Evonovich's 'One for the money'. I love her series and the previews look great. I'm such a Ranger fan. He can sneak up behind me and whisper Babe in my ear any day.

Now that my brain is no longer in a fog I have no excuse to just lay on the couch so I'm off to edit land and planning the rest of my year. I hope your New Year is starting off as eventful as mine is, minus the cold. :}
