It's that time again...NaNowriMo

It's that time again and this year I'm going to be very busy. I plan on completing three projects: 1. Finishing my edits on the stories I pitched last month at  the conference so I can submit them.  Last Chance to Run: What if you found out the daughter you buried was alive and being held captive by a man you thought you killed? Ron Daily gave everything he had to the FBI. It was his life since his daughter’s death. Then his world crashed in around him when he’s told the terrorist he thought he destroyed staged her death. As obstacles mount against his daughter, he forms an alliance with another agent, a stubborn redhead with links to a secret from his past. Can he fight feelings for a woman that will never love him once she finds out the truth?  2. Complete the edits on my YA, If I Knew Then and send them back to my publisher Angel dreamed of a life of freedom. One filled with love that didn’t come with a price.  Sh e hid the pain until Jax ent...

Yes I've made mistakes, But I've learned so much along the way.

Image
This month is my Third Anniversary as a Writer. And I love writing more today, then I did then.  I struggled in the beginning, and made many mistakes. I had a story I wanted to tell, but no idea how to do it. So I sat down and wrote it out. Once I was finished I felt accomplished.   I wrote a story!  I thought that's how you did it. Was I ever surprised to find out that was just the beginning, and the easy part. I needed direction. I thought you wrote a book, celebrated your accomplishment, then sent it to a publisher for a contract.  Well, a few things from my past came back to haunt me.  Like ninth grade English.  Yes, Comma's hated me,  They still do, and so did Grammar. I realized that I had 298 pages of horrible grammar mistakes which made my story difficult to read. After many review courses, and reading a lot of refresher books, my story fell into a publisher hands...

Don't let Depression kill your creativity, and steal away your life.

Image
As I write this post, my heart is breaking. we lost an amazing Actor today.                                Some say he committed suicide, I say Depression killed him. Discussing Depression is like talking about Politics or Religion. Everyone has an opinion. Some see it as an excuse, others see it as a true medical condition. When I'm asked if I think depression is a real, I ask them if they think Chronic fatigue is, or even Postpartum illnesses.                                           You can't see them, but they can be felt. Whether it's physical, or mental, it's still pain. and it can destroy your will to go on. I know. I've had friends battle this, and family members that have fought, and won.     ...

Abuse shouldn't be a part of someone's past. Be the voice that get's heard.

A Child should be seen, not heard. Who truly believes that? I don't. Children have a voice, we should encourage them to use it. Not hide behind their silence. Abuse comes in many forms . The most visible, physical . The next one we are familiar with is verbal but the one we cannot forget is emotional .  I am very familiar with the last two. I spent many years hiding behind a mask, never feeling like I was worthy, then being reminded of all my faults, and why I would never go anywhere in life by someone who wore a bigger mask then I did.  We look at our society and wonder what happened. Why is little Mary always crying and why is little Johnny so angry all the time.  If you fill a child's life with anger and disappointment then that's all they will know. You can't raise a child on nothing but negativity. I...

Old Man winter has caused a glitch in my party, so we are going to extend the fun.

Image
My sale was to end on the 16th but because of all the winter storms, and power outages a lot of my blog hosts were without the internet, so we are going to party on until the 28th.                     Rescued From the Dark                                                   Just turned one To celebrate this amazing day I am going to be giving away book marks, key chains, e-books and an amazing Basket. Of course your basket will be filled with love, I just thought these were so cute that I had to                                       share. The party started today and will run through the         ...

Our eyes, the windows to our world that we destroy a little each day.

Image
As I got older, my eyes got weaker. Something I blamed on age. It never crossed my mind that it was my lifestyle. Boy was I wrong. I went to the doctor, and had an eye opening experience. No pun intended. I work during the day as an ultrasound tech, which means I am in front of a computer, with the lights dimmed for eight hours. Then at night I’m in front of the computer working on my next story. Doesn't sound too bad, right? Well, I found out how wrong my lifestyle was for my eyes. I was told that my eyes had weakened over the last six months, mainly due to overuse, and strain. Now I understand strain, but how do you overuse your eyes? I can’t take them out, or elevate them with an ice bag. I know, bad medical humor but I couldn't help it. After some research, and a long lecture from my ophthalmologist, I found out that my eyes will continue to get worse unless I make some changes. I love my job, and I love to write, as do so many of you. So I’m go...

Tuesday Teaser with a sneak peak into some upcoming stories.

I 'm working on a few stories right now and thought I'd take a moment and share a little excerpt from each one.  This first one is from   Last Chance to Run.  The second one in 'The Guardians of Hope Series.   Taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart, she inched along the wall to the edge.  Tracy  stopped and peered around the corner. The truck was there, just like Pat promised. All  Tracy  needed to do was make it across the compound and past the main house. A loud explosion rocked the ground beneath her, Pat’s diversion worked. All the guards headed towards the bunkers. With only a few minutes to spare, it was now or never.  Tracy  took off in a dead run. She was only seconds from freedom when the front door of the house flew open. Not looking back she pushed her aching legs harder. They would not catch her, not again. Another explosion vibrated the wet grass, pushing her faster. Muffled popping echoed in her ears as bull...

Rue Allyn and her amazing story, A True and Perfect KNIGHT.

Treason No one needs a dictionary to tell them that Treason is” the crime of betraying one's country, esp. by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.” [https://www.google.com/search?q=treason&rlz=1C1KMZB_enUS525US525&oq=treason&aqs=chrome..69i57j5j0l2.1342j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8]   So what more can be said? Quite a bit if you look beyond the surface of any story (fact or fiction) involving Treason. In the history of the USA only 13 people have been convicted of treason. Some were hanged, some served prison sentences and a few were pardoned. Each has a story that fascinates.  One of the most famous treasonous stories in the US is about the Rosenbergs. Oddly enough they were not charged with or convicted of treason but were convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit espionage. They were executed on June 19, 1953. Nonetheless controversy still surrounds the case. You can read more about the Rosenb...

Why I love Halloween, but hate things that go bump in the night.

Image
Halloween is such a fun and magical time of the year. Children are busy deciding who they want to dress up as. The pumpkin patches open for the fun trips to pick out the biggest, and best, and apple cider is flowing as you sing songs on an open hay ride in the cool night air.                                    Sounds wonderful, right?  Now let me tell you why Halloween makes me want to close my door. lock it tight. and hide under my bed until day break. I hate scary things. Yep, I  said it. Things that lurk in the dark, and go bump in the night turns me into a big baby, hiding under the blankets. I loved taking the kids out on Halloween, but made sure we were in early. When we would walk up to a house decorated for the evening, with things jumping out from the bushes, I was the one running away, screaming. My children would laugh at me and continue on thei...
