Sandra Jones's Favorite Christmas Reads.
Favorite Christmas Reads
During the holidays, I read more than any other time of the
year. I tend to read cozy mysteries in the winter--maybe it’s my need to feel
warm and comforted while it’s cold outside. I also re-read favorite historical
romances during the holidays.
Right now, you might find me curled up on the couch with my
cat reading:
Anything by Charles Dickens. To me, his works embody the
Christmas spirit. A Christmas Carol,
Great Expectations, Oliver Twist…love, love them!
Anything by Jane Austen is always by my bed. He-l-l-o, Mr.
Darcy!
Heather and Velvet
by Teresa Medeiros is another of my Christmas faves. I have two words to sum up
my preference for this one: Scottish moors.
Flowers from the Storm
by Laura Kinsale is another go-to story for my cold winter days. It has some of
same qualities I enjoy in Dickens. It shares the worst side of humanity, but
also the best. No one—not even an unrepentant rake—is beyond the reach of true
love. Le sigh!
Has your reading been inspired by the holidays? I’d love to
hear what you’re reading!
