What do you do on Black Friday?

Black Friday has always been a tradition for my daughter and I. We would brave the crowds to pick up a few items, but mostly just to people watch. It amazes me how a sale on pillows will turn us all into animals, grabbing and pushing for the last one. Myself included. I got hung up one year in a line for large, plush bath towels. Today I laugh at how I lined myself near that bin, glaring across at my competitors for the nave blue pile, ready to pounce at the stroke of midnight.

This year it all changed. I didn't have to drink massive amounts of coffee so I had the energy to stay up late and fight the many crazy shoppers like myself because they decided to start at eight pm. Kind of strange doing black Friday shopping at eight pm on Thursday, but I enjoyed the crowds and got the few things I needed. Then I was home by midnight for a nap before heading out to the real Black Friday shopping at stores that opened at five. How we love our crazy, yearly rituals.
What do you do on Black Friday?  Leave me a comment for a chance to win a $10.00 Amazon gift card.

An explosion ricocheted behind Jason’s Michaels eyes as the pressure mounted in his head.
The rush of panic consumed Jason as he struggled to move. He tried to
swallow but his throat burned from the flames that engulfed his lungs.   He needed to
breathe but he could not, shit.
He strained to hear the muffled voices, but the pounding in his ears
erased all hope. His head started to spin and he succumbed to the realization,
this was it, the end, he won.  The flames were dampening and his
heartbeat slowed. As the drums subsided, the voices became clearer.
“Give it to him now you son of a bitch. What were you thinking? We still need him.”

A split second release had Jason sucking in a breath of much needed air.
Stabbing pains shot through his head and every muscle fiber burned as the cold
blast of air shot through his lungs releasing the oxygen his body craved.
He arched his back and raised his chest trying to pull in more when he felt the
impact from the first blow. His head
snapped to the side and the crack from his neck echoed in his ears. The pain
jolted through his jaw as it raced across his cheekbone. Before he could gather
his senses, the hand smacked across his face again and the pain set his face on
fire. What the hell? With the third slap his eyes snapped open and he
wrenched upright with a lurch, hitting his head on the solid roof of the SUV.
Jason’s eyes darted back and forth looking for something familiar until he
locked onto the ice-cold stare of the devil himself, Shaun Flanagan.
Damn! That was close.
He could not blow his cover, even if it meant he would die as David Logan, and not
Jason Michaels.

  1. I used to be an avid black Friday shopper, that being said I have had to work the last two years. I have taught my husband how to black Friday shop, but it really seems the deals have gone downhill in the last few years.

  13. I've never ventured out for the Thanksgiving early-birds or midnight madness sales, but I used to Black Friday shop when the crowds weren't so huge and the lines not so long. It sounds like you and your daughter have a fun ritual. Thanks for the giveaway!

  26. This is the BEST way to spend Black Friday. Sitting at home, hopping with old friends and making new ones. I can't handle the crowds anymore so I only do Black Friday shopping online if I do any. I tend to pick up gifts throughout the year so come November I'm finished. That way I can spread out the purchasing and not spend a fortune at the time of the year when my job is at its slowest and my paycheck is at its lowest. Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win. <^_^>

  53. I love Black Friday shopping, but this year I waited until the store was almost empty and I still got all the specials on my list. I live in a small town and even though there are a couple hundred people in Wal-Mart, most are friendly and they even say excuse me when they push you to get to what they want. I would never shop in the places they show in the news, way too scary., but in my town, I try to go every year.
