Wickedly They Come. A guest post with Cathrina Constantine

Help me welcome Cathrina today as we find out a little more about her and her new book,
                                                    Wickedly They Come

Tell us about your latest book, including its genre. Does it cross over to other genres? If so, what are they?
Wickedly They Come is a dark, gritty, thought-provoking paranormal thriller which is geared toward older adolescence to adults.
How do you come up with ideas?
I stare at the computer and pray.
What do you enjoy most about life?
My husband and children, they are my life.
Where do you start when writing? Research, plotting, outline, or...?
I’m a pantser through and through. That’s one of my main problems. I need to learn how to plot.
What did you learn from writing your first book?
My writing needs improvement.
How many hours a day to you spend writing?
I’m a slow writer. Up to 6 hours a day when I’m dedicated. I tend to procrastinate with social media and find myself going off track daily.
If you could give the younger version of yourself advice what would it be?
Persevere and don’t stop writing, which I did at a young age. And came back to the craft many years later.
What is the craziest thing you did as a kid, and would it ever end up in a book?
Actually, I did many crazy things as a kid which I would be crazy to write them here. Although, in my new YA novel being submitted by my agent, Sharon Belcastro, you’ll find some of my zanier moments, but I’m not admitting which ones are me.
What do you hope readers take with them after reading your work?
In Wickedly They Come readers will discover an underlying message.
List two authors we would find you reading when taking a break from your own writing.
Only two
I read so many different authors I can’t name only two, sorry.
How long does it take you to write a book?
Truthfully, it seems like forever, especially when it comes to the editing and revisions. But I’ve gotten quicker.
What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
I work part-time for a local University.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
It’s not really quirky, but I need to be alone in total and complete silence.
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I read—a lot. I make handmade quilts, walk the dogs, and love watching movies.
What does your family think of your writing?
So far only my mother read my book, and she loved it. Neither my husband, nor any of my children have yet to read it.
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
Actually, I’ve written six. And I like them all. As with all writers my characters come to life and when I’m through reading or writing, they remain with me.

Wickedly They Come is a dark and gripping, thought-provoking fantasy:

Haunting visions, unusual strength, and special paranormal talents are the norm for Seeley and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Jordan. Their lives become perilous when the leader of The Black Order stalks them, trying to fulfill a prophecy to consecrate Jordan to his lord—Lucifer.

Previously home schooled and naive, Jordan is inducted into the social culture of teendom at Elma High, where she encounters Mark, a mysterious new classmate who is hell bent on keeping her unscathed from the forces of evil. The battle between heaven and earth is escalating—and earth is their battleground!

Something dripped on Seeley’s shoulder. Then a wet dribble skimmed her cheek and landed on Jordan’s arm. There, she could see that the wetness was bright red. Raising her head and sucking in her breath, Seeley gawked at a mammoth pentagram embedded into the rocky dome. The five-pointed star sparkled mysteriously in the flickering light, and a planked balcony bordered the elevated fortification.

Seeley craned her neck and peered directly upward, her bloodcurdling scream split the air. “Oh my God! Oh my God!” Violently, Seeley cried, “Jack—what have they done?!” Her knees buckled.

Cathrina resides in Upstate New York with her husband, five children, two gregarious Labrador Retrievers and two cats. After a long hiatus while raising her family, Constantine finally picked up pen and paper and began to hone her craft of writing, then eventually confiscated her son’s computer. Her second novel, TALLAS will also be released by Black Opal Books. Cathrina signed with The Belcastro Literary Agency, and is extremely happy to be working with Sharon Belcastro and Ella Marie Mohan Shupe. When not with her family, baking, crafting, reading, or stationed at the computer writing, you will find her walking in the backwoods with her dogs, conjuring up a new tale.
